  • "Māori Soldiers in Malaya." Te Ao Hou 40 (1962): 21-22.
  • Kahi writes of the life of Māori soldiers in Malaya with the New Zealand Army. He comments on how the Māori soldiers blended in easily with the local Malay and discovered similarities between the Malay and Māori languages. The proposal raised by the Māori Battalion old boys to establish an ‘all-Māori unit’ in the army is somewhat opposed by Kahi, who draws on his own experiences to argue that Māori and Pakeha soldiers living together have helped knit the two races together.
