Vicki Fatu

In 1997 Vicki wrote: ‘I am a 27 year-old mother of two, from Māori and Samoan descent, born and raised in Porirua, in a large family of twelve where everyone often read to escape the other eleven. Having grown up in a house full of books, it seemed natural to want to write and enjoy doing it. In 1996, I attended a bridging course at the local polytech where my English tutor encouraged me to write and to further my education. I am currently involved in a community-based Māori history and language class and finishing my first year of the NZ Diploma of Business at Whitireia Community Polytechnic.’
