Esther Tamehana ‘an accomplished Tuhoe actor, singer, writer, director and playwright was nominated in 19[9]8 as a finalist for the New Zealand Post Book Awards that included ‘The Sandman’ and ‘He Tangata Kirikiri’. Esther has captivated many audiences of diverse ages, genders, ethnicities with the use of both Māori and English language. Tamehana’s debut ensemble included the musical ‘Korowai’ and the play ‘Hawaikinui’ – windder of the ‘Best Total Immersion Play’ – a spiritual and emotional repertoire and rendition of "The Wizard of Oz." Ester has her work published through Huia Publishers sich as "He Kahurere", "Roimata’s Cloak" and a collection for Nga Kete Korero. She is currently working with educational video resources.’
